Debating: you know you are right - but can you prove it?

Description:

Proving factual claims with evidence is what great science is all about. Yet, we may get difficult questions at conferences and we all have to defend our thesis. It can be a nerve-wrecking experience and scientists can benefit from learning about debating and argumentation skills.

Fortunately, our trainer Daniel Schut - a finalist of both the European and World championships in debating - will help you with presenting your arguments clearly and persuasively.

In this full-day workshop, you will learn:

  • How to formulate standpoints
  • How to construct arguments to justify your claims
  • How to reason logically

This workshop is an ideal preparation for presenting your papers at a conference, anticipating questions for your defense, and even for tightening the logic and reasoning in your papers.

The workshop has an excellent mix of theory and practice you will be actively involved: by entering the arena of debate directly, you will apply what you have learned most effectively.

There are no fees for this workshop and a lunch is included (vegan and vegetarian)
